Q – WHAT PROGRAM DO YOU TEACH FOR IPEX?

A – Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) Exam Prep in partnership with the APICS Grand Rapids Chapter.

Q – WHY DO YOU TEACH WITH DAVENPORT UNIVERSITY?

A – Davenport University’s IPEx has a great reputation for offering high-quality, impactful education. They bridge the gap between the textbook and hands-on application of learning, which aligns with my values.  Employers and their teams need practical training opportunities that result in immediate on-the-job application. The IPEx programs support the development of in-demand skills to advance careers.  It’s a win-win for employers and employees.

Q – WHAT IMPACT DOES CPIM TRAINING HAVE ON YOUR STUDENTS/HOW DOES CPIM EXAMP PREP TRAINING SET PARTICIPANTS UP FOR SUCCESS?

A – Employers who support employees in earning the APICS CPIM credential will see a quick ROI. The pool of skilled supply chain professionals is limited. Investing in the development of skilled employees not only improves job performance but also retention. Earning the CPIM will significantly advance an operations or supply chain career. I’ve seen so many examples of improvement, advancement, and career growth as a result of earning the CPIM designation.

Q – WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT AS A FACILITATOR?

A – There are many! Recently, I had a former student earn the CPIM credential shortly after starting his first job. With the CPIM and roughly 2 years of experience, he moved into a position with more responsibility and significantly higher pay. While a higher salary is nice, it is the career and life changing results that inspire me. Because of his pursuit of education and hard work, this student can now buy a house, take nice vacations, etc., years ahead of his peers. It’s great to see. And I see it often.

Q – TELL US A SUCCESS STORY THAT HAS HAD AN IMPACT ON YOU.

I once had a student mentee. At our first mentorship meeting she shared a list that outlined how I was going to help her in the mentorship, her educational goals, and the job she would obtain upon graduation (including employer, title, location, and travel). She had everything planned out for the next five (5) years. I was impressed — but also skeptical. Over the course of our mentorship, she proved to be a top performer. In the end she accomplished EVERYTHING on the list. I was speechless! I hope that in some small way I helped start her on her path. She continues to thrive.

Q – BEST ADVICE YOU’VE RECEIVED?

A – Don’t pass on opportunities just because they scare you.

Q – BEST ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE?

A – Keep learning, be brave enough to apply it, and then teach others.
